About Laser Vein Removal

Spider veins are small, branch-like blood vessels that can be seen through the skin. Though they can be located almost anywhere on the body, common areas include the legs and face. Often red, purple, or blue in color, spider veins are caused by aging, genetics, and other outside factors. Because they are tough to conceal, GLO Laser & Med Spa is happy to provide a reduction and removal solution with Cutera XEO laser vein treatment. This nonsurgical solution is highly effective and noninvasive so patients can return to their daily activities immediately after treatment. Our aesthetic team, led by Dr. Yujing Li, invites you to schedule a vein reduction consultation at our Houston, TX facility to learn more about the benefits of this treatment.

Ideal Candidates

Healthy individuals who avoid certain clothing or conceal their spider veins with cosmetics may be ideal candidates for laser vein reduction. Though spider veins do not typically cause medical concern, most patients find them unattractive and are in search of a nonsurgical, noninvasive solution. Those with blood clots or a history of blood clots should not seek treatment unless approved by their primary care physician. Cutera XEO laser vein reduction can improve the appearance of small to medium-sized spider veins on the face and/or body. Women who are pregnant should wait until they have delivered their child to undergo treatment.

Procedure Technique

Your laser vein reduction session will be performed in under an hour in the comfort of one of our treatment rooms. Before your procedure begins, you will be asked to lie down in a treatment chair where your skin will be prepped for the treatment. If you are nervous about discomfort, topical anesthesia can be applied before the treatment begins. Finally, the handheld Cutera XEO device will be used to target the spider vein(s), sending pulses of light energy into the treatment area while leaving the surrounding tissue untouched. The vessels will absorb the energy and begin to collapse, closing the vessel walls.

What to Expect

You will be released to return to your daily activities as soon as your session ends. There is no need for a recovery period, however, your skin may look red and feel bruised for up to ten days after the procedure. This is a standard part of the vessel collapsing process. To expedite the healing of the vein, you may be provided with compression garments to wear over the treatment area. These will help to improve the blood circulation in the area. After your laser vein removal treatment, you may experience redness, bruising, and swelling, but these symptoms should subside within 7 – 10 days.

Many see visible improvements immediately after treatment, but results will vary for each patient. During your initial consultation, our team will help you to create realistic expectations for the procedure. New veins can develop and become visible over time so more treatments may be needed in the future.
