About ThreadLift

At GLO Laser & Med Spa in Houston, TX, we are excited to offer a new solution to facial rejuvenation with the ThreadLift procedure. A PDO ThreadLift tightens skin tissue using threads made of Polydioxanone (PDO). ThreadLifts are a minimally invasive treatment for Houston area men and women who are seeking a less invasive solution for rejuvenating their facial contour. Using prolene sutures, very tiny incisions are made to the outside area of the cheeks to help lift and support loose skin around the eyes and cheeks. A PDO ThreadLift can also improve the appearance of the jowls and the upper neck area without the need for large incisions or skin removal. This treatment is performed at GLO Laser & Med Spa, and the results can be seen right away. Call our office in Houston, TX to schedule your private consultation to see if this treatment is right for you.

Ideal Candidates

Men and women who wish to turn back the hands of time and are seeking a nonsurgical option for facial rejuvenation may be great candidates for a PDO ThreadLift. It is especially common among women over the age of 40. Houston area patients who have mild sagging or moderately loose skin on the lower, mid, or upper face can benefit from this treatment as it targets many areas, including the eyes, cheeks, jowls, and neck.

Procedure Technique

During your consultation, we will assess your skin and facial structure and consult with you about the areas you'd like to address. Based on the degree of skin sag that is present, a treatment plan will be created for your customized ThreadLift procedure. The number of sutures needed to attain your cosmetic goals will vary. At the time of your procedure, your face will be carefully marked with a cosmetic pencil to note where the threads will be inserted. The target area will be numbed with a topical ointment, such as lidocaine, and then the threads will be placed. Using precision and care, each individual thread will be carefully tied and securely knotted to ensure their hold. The PDO ThreadLift procedure typically takes about 60 – 90 minutes, depending on the number of threads used for the result you are trying to attain.

What to Expect

After your ThreadLift procedure, you will likely experience mild side effects, such as bruising, swelling, or inflammation. These are common and usually resolve in the few days that follow the procedure. Immediately following your treatment, a cold compress can help with the swelling and bruising. After about 4 – 6 months, the targeted areas on the face should be fully healed and new collagen growth occurs around the threads. Essentially, the threads act as a sort of tendon, which helps to tighten the underlying tissue or muscle to create a more taut, younger-looking appearance.
